Susana Garcia Alonso (Sugalon)

Spanish Illustrator and watercolour enthusiast Susana Garcia Alonso has lived with her Scottish husband and four children in Switzerland for nearly 20 years.

Specializing in illustration, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree of Art from Murcia School of Arts, Spain. Over the years she has worked as a freelance illustrator and then took a break to dedicate herself to her family when her children were young.

Now, she is refocusing her work to master the use of watercolour as her primary form. “For me, watercolour is technically the ultimate frontier, and I find it a pity that such a wonderful medium does not come across very often as a way to illustrate commercially in our days.”

Drawing inspiration from Yuko Nagayama and Janine Gallizia, she uses her watercolours and pencils to create her newest works. She is also proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Bryce.

“I am a very spiritual and thankful person. I try to capture simply the beauty and depth of the moment…the essence of life passing by in small things. Trying to capture light and emotion fascinate me.”
