Jose Arias

Jose Arias was born in Mexico City. From an early age, he was encouraged to read, write and paint. As he grew up, his father introduced him to books and films that contained mythological themes, science fiction stories and fantastical imagery which inspire his current body of work.

At age 19, Jose moved to Vancouver, Canada to study Visual and Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University. Eventually, he began working for the animation industry and has subsequently worked on several television series and films as an illustrator.

He is drawn to the paintings of Jacques Louis-David, William Blake and Francisco Goya. Lucientes and Gustave Doré are also artists that influence his work.
