Susanne Asheuer

“My favourite audience is the inner child, I like to assist discovery and dreaming in a playful way. My work features additional narratives within the pictures, and I like to surprise the viewer with hidden details. I aim to show commonality and diversity in a critical, cute and cheeky manner.”

Susanne grew up in Berlin, Germany in the 1980s. As a result, one of the first illustrators she consciously experienced was Gerhard Seyfried.  A robust creative influence on her work is Tomi Ungerer, and she has a closeness to artistic and scientific personalities such as Maria Sybilla Merian.

She holds a diploma in communication design from the University of Applied Sciences, Berlin.

Susanne enjoys working using a range of traditional tools including markers, acrylic, biro and pencils, though she also works digitally using her iPad. She loves the freedom of being able to express a feeling through a single line, as well as featuring many illustrative elements.

Susanne finds her inspiration from observing flora, fauna and human behaviour. Her clients include commercial, political and educational institutions. She has also consulted for animated and illustrated content.
