The Javis Contreras Effect

Inspired by old toys, posters, constructivism and music, The Javis Contreras Effect creates chameleonic work that can adapt to various client needs- from abstract to realistic, from organic to geometric.

In his digital illustration, he likes to combine various traditional techniques to achieve an organic feel. “Maybe, that’s why I love my Wacom tablet so much. It gives the freehand illustration a chance in digital form.”

He was born in Mexico City where he still resides today. He attended the Universidad Mexicana completing his studies in graphic design with a focus on visual communication.

He now works as an art director for Kannbal Consulting. His list of accomplishments is numerous and includes working as a concept artist and creative illustrator on projects for Rolling Stone Magazine, Penguin Random House, and Distrito Zion Music Fest 2019, to name a few. He also illustrated the official Tim Burton expo program in collaboration with Bicaalú Magazine and Franz Mayer Museum.
