Birgit Jansen

 
 

Birgit Jansen is a freelance communications designer and illustrator who describes her artistic style as “a bold, colourful, straightforward style with a lacing of humour and playfulness”

She is influenced by a broad range of inspirations including Czech children’s books, Aztec symbols, Belgian comics, Cuban posters, risography, literature, philosophy and the people around her, especially her children. 

Currently, she lives and works in Cologne, Germany where she is active in her local creative community and regularly features in ILLU, the Cologne illustration festival. She studied design in Germany and Mexico, graduating in 2004 and founded her company Bürgie Illustration & Graphic Design in 2015. 

She is a versatile artist with the flexibility to work using digital or analogue tools depending on the client’s needs and her creative intuition. Her portfolio features detailed hand-drawn illustrations, infographics, logos and designs for both web and print. She is especially passionate about graphic recording.

Birgit Jansen is represented by Agentur Brauer for book design and bikablo for graphic recording.
