Matús Roman

Collage artist, graphic designer and fine arts teacher only begin to summarize the work and professional career of Slovakian artist Matúš Roman.

He focuses primarily on hand-cut and glued paper collage. As substrates, he uses various visual materials such as oil painting reproductions, old photographs, or fashion magazines that he collects for this precise purpose.

He enjoys linocut and minimalistic vector posters and also creates assemblages, objects as well as luminaries.

The main themes of his artwork are criticism and humour. His work comes together at the intersection of these two themes, which he then combines poetically to create a distinct visual effect.

Matúš studied at Comenius University in Bratislava and is from Bardejov, Slovakia, where he currently lives.
