Max Vdovin

Max Vdovin is a mixed media and collage artist who currently resides in Moscow, Russia.

In 2001 Max graduated from Russian State University for the Humanities as a teacher of history of world religions.

Max began creating collages in 2016, the centennial year of Dadaism. “It was this date and Victor Melamed’s workshop on collages that inspired me so much that I started to create my own.”

His works are inspired by the artworks of many Dada artists as well as natural textures that he collects and incorporates into his own work. Max describes his work as contemporary collage. He is excited by combining unlikely imagery to create dynamic juxtapositions.

“I hardly ever start work with a definitive idea of what I am going to create. Commonly, I am led by the collage itself. It is an intuitive process that I cannot quite understand or articulate.”

Max produces his work using both analogue and digital techniques but prefers working digitally.
