Rebecca George is a Contemporary Mid-Career Painter who has maintained an active professional studio in Chicago, IL since 1993. Her work has evolved along a spectrum of figure-narratives to abstraction, focusing heavily on material and application method. The surfaces of George’s paintings are highly attended to with saturated, gestural compositions that are continuously pushing into new territory. Her influences include Willem DeKooning, Helen Frankenthaler and Paul Gauguin. She maintains a rigorous exhibition and studio practice and is represented by The Art House Gallery.

Her work is collected worldwide and she is well published. She holds a BFA from Maryland, Institute, College of Art and MFA in Painting and Drawing from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
