María José Gómez
María José Gómez is a Colombian-born artist, based in Zaragoza, Spain. She majored in industrial design at Universidad Diego Portales in Santiago de Chile, and after graduation, she decided to pursue a career as an illustrator. Her inspirations range from the classic painters Edward Hopper and Edgar Degas to the contemporary illustrator Sally Nixon.
“My work portrays people in an everyday setting, with special attention in details, both physical and emotional. I reflect on the meaning behind daily moments and aim to transmit the emotional significance they convey. I work mainly with digital mediums but love gouache and coloured pencil techniques.”
She has collaborated with rising book authors and influencers surrounding personal growth and body positivity movements and is currently developing a children’s book with The Kids Book Company Editorial.
